Job Responsibilities:

Onex’s technology resources and expert combustion team provides our customers manufacturing operation with unmatched expertise in furnace services – burner tune ups, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, retrofitting, and replacement. We are a recognized leader in refractory and combustion solutions and have been in the business for 52 years.

The Industrial Maintenance Electrician is responsible for diagnosing and repairing issues with electrical equipment. They use diagnostic tools to find the root cause of an issue and then they use power hand tools to fix the issue. Maintenance Electricians have an expert knowledge of electricity, as well as an aptitude for working with their hands. The Industrial Maintenance Electrician will be responsible, but not limited to:

  • Provide Electrical Maintenance for the Onex Building and Equipment (both in-house and on a client’s site)
  • Install, verify, trouble shoot and service industrial furnaces
  • Must be able to install conduit, wire way, pull wire and terminate
  • Troubleshooting PLC systems, standalone controllers and final control elements
  • Responsible for commissioning and troubleshooting the startup of new equipment
  • Identify areas of cost savings and improve on efficiency
  • Lead other co-workers to complete assigned tasks
  • Use diagnostic test equipment to trouble shoot, test and verify operation of furnaces
  • Assemble, install and troubleshoot electrical panels with prints provided
  • Work with Combustion Service Technician if needed to complete a service call.
  • Complete daily work reports, time sheets and perform an assessment for the time remaining to complete the job.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to read and understand electrical, PLC logic, plumbing and mechanical prints
  • Must be a self-starter and a team player
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently
  • Must have an understanding of 480v – 3 phase systems
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • High school diploma and min 5 years’ experience in Electrical Maintenance
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • A good understanding of motor controls, control valves, thermocouples and control systems
  • Must have a working knowledge of PLC software and communications with laptop to PLC’s and HMI’s
  • Must be able to move or handle equipment and materials generally weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to work in different industrial environments
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE I.E. a respirator
  • Ability to drive a fork lift or willing to learn how
